Sir Mickey’s at Walt Disney World: Making Wishes Come True

View of the Sir Mickey's Shop sign at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom on an overcast January morning.

Sir Mickey’s is a quaint Walt Disney World shop, located smack dab in the middle of Magic Kingdom.

In a previous, pre-trip post, we excitedly chose Sir Mickey’s to be our first pressed penny stop once the Magic Kingdom ropes dropped.

Making Our Disney Day Wishes

Our wish for the day — my daughter Claire and I — to have as much fun as possible!

This is the list we made of what to see and do.

• Adding to our Squished Penny collection

• Pin Trading

• Riding some rides

Pin trading locations can vary from day to day, however, Disney has a map of its Pressed Coin machines. If you’re interested, you can find it here.

Pin trading and ride riding will need to wait for another post.

Fulfilling Our Disney Day Squished Penny Wish

Wishes in mind and savvy advice considered, we charted the following course to Sir Mickey’s in order to promptly check the elongated coin souvenir off our to-do list.

Moving in a northerly direction (from the bottom of the map to the top), we disembarked from the Monorail near the park’s entrance.

Arrow One: we paused momentarily to snap the obligatory entrance picture.

Arrow Two: with haste, we make our way through Main Street, USA. Stopping for just a minute at the Emporium to make a pin trade.

Arrow Three: we looped around the Central Plaza and posed with Dumbo.

Arrow Four: we arrived early to find Cinderella’s Castle’s guard still on duty.

A rollicking musical number ensued starring Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Delaying our passage through the castle. We were forced to detour through Tomorrowland and made our way to Sir Mickey’s from there.

Naturally, first we rode the Winnie the Pooh ride while en route.

Sir Mickey’s Squished Penny Machine

Inside the shop are souvenirs galore. Enamel pins, clothes, ears and such.

To the left of the main checkout desk we found the Coin Press machine. It featured eight Disney princesses.

Brace yourself, here’s the video capture.

As you’ll see in the video, Disney’s pressed penny machines, for the most part, have a choice of eight designs to chose from. The theme of characters offered depends on which “Land” you’re in and if an attraction is nearby.

Sir Mickey’s is next door to Princess Fairytale Hall, where visitors can meet Disney Princess characters.

The eight choices in Sir Mickey’s machine were Cinderella, Merida from Brave, Snow White, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty, Tink from Peter Pan, plus Anna and Elsa from Frozen.

Bibbidi Bobbidi, y’all!
