Howdy! If you arrived here when you scanned a QR code in Texans Touring LONDON, this San Antonio River Walk themed post might be a bit confusing.

Have no fear, deal seeker!

The information here applies.

Whether vacationing or staycationing, finding the right deal excursion, tour, entrance or event can be daunting, unless you know where to look.

Take inspiration where you find it!

Sometimes travel inspiration comes from television shows or movies. Sometimes friends offer valuable suggestions. Other times happenstance or chance gifts you a spark.

Start there.

The best way we’ve found to plan our most memorable adventures is to tune out the static of too many choices. Focus on what you find most inspirational. Be it a destination, like San Antonio’s River Walk or London’s Piccadilly Circus, or an attraction, such as a cruise along the San Antonio River or a Hop On Hop Off Bus ride around famous London sites, hone in on that one thing.

To save time, and ultimately money, we prefer to go straight to a reader reviewed source.

We like to read what people like you, and us, have to say about where we wanna go, before making real plans.

Get Your Guide is simple to use

Get Your Guide is our new favorite resource.

On both Get Your Guide‘s website and app, simply type the place or attraction in the search bar at the top of the screen. You can narrow down your options by clicking on the Sports, Culture, Food or Nature tabs, if you like.

Once you use the app or website, you’ll also have the option of For You, curated from your previous searches.

We entered San Antonio River Walk into the search bar for this example.

When you choose a tour, excursion or attraction from the listings, you’ll be guided to a window such as this one.

Information available includes an Overview, Details, Highlights, Meeting Point and Know Before You Go. Too, there will be an assortment, complete with photos, of additional activities You Might Also Like, based on the one you just chose.

Toward the bottom of the listing is what we consider to be the most important feature, the Customer Reviews. We try to read a solid mix of good and bad reviews before we book.

The website has a Check Availability button and a price per person at the top of the screen (the app has it across the bottom). Clicking on that button will give you a screen to choose your date, time and such. It will also display pricing for adults, children and the like.

Get Your Guide, as well as every other such sites, displays the cheapest price available. Depending on the day you choose, your options may not be as inexpensive.

What happens once you book with Get Your Guide?

If you booked online, you will have made an account on the website.

More likely than not, we print out out receipt with the time and place we paid for because someone (me) doesn’t trust their phone. However, if all goes to plan, the best way to keep track of your booking is through your Get Your Guide app on your smartphone.

Along the bottom of your screen you’ll see 5 tabs: Discover, Wishlist, Cart, Bookings and Profile.

Discover is what we did above, find fabulous ways to while away some hours. Wishlist is the heart-shaped toggle you can click to save cool listings for another time. Cart is for all the goodies you bought or are buying. Bookings is where you’ll find the tokens for your purchased adventures. Profile gives the people at the other end of your ticket your pertinent details, like your name. It also shows up when you review your Get Your Guide outings (which we recommend you do, to let other tourists know what to expect).

Happy trails, y’all!
