King Charles III of the United Kingdom, along with his wife Queen Consort Camilla, will be officially crowned in London on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
For those of us not invited to Westminster Abbey for the Coronation ceremony, I have prepared a simple (and inexpensive) way to spruce up our festivities. All you need are a device to download a pdf, a printer, some scissors, a long piece of string or cord, and some glue or double-sided tape.

How to Make your FREE Coronation Bunting
Step One :: Download and Print this FREE Full-Color pdf
The pdf has 2 two-sided flags which will be cut out and folded to create a bunting. For each foot of bunting you’d like to display, print one copy.
I wanted my Coronation bunting to be 6 feet long. Printing 6 sheets gave me 12 two-sided flags and it worked out beautifully.
Step Two :: Cut out and Assemble your FREE Coronation Bunting
Gathering your materials is next.
You’ll need:
- your printed FREE Coronation Bunting printable
- scissors
- a long piece of string, cord, yarn, ribbon or twine
- glue or double-sided tape
- tape measurer or ruler
I suppose I should mention, I did not factor in buying supplies for this project since I have too many crafting materials on hand. Hence, calling it a FREE project.
Let me clarify, the download is absolutely free.
I do apologize if you had to make a run to the store for any of the above mentioned supplies.
With scissors, carefully cut along the outside line of each of the 2 flags.
Note: Do not cut across the dashed line! It will complicate the assembling of your bunting.
Fold the flag in half, along the dashed line.
Measure your string, cord, yarn, ribbon or twine to your desired length. I used jute twine.
Draping a mantle will require at least 6 feet of string, maybe more. Add an extra 12 inches of string on either end for hanging your bunting, and for aesthetics. So for a 6-foot Coronation bunting, like mine, you’ll need to cut an 8-foot piece of string.
Lay the string in the folded crease of your flags and glue (or tape) in place. Tack the points together with a dot of glue, if desired.
Leave about 3 inches of blank string between each flag.
Step Three :: Let the Pomp and Circumstance Begin
Once your bunting is dry (if you used glue), display this beauty for all the see.
Now, grab a cuppa and let’s wait with the rest of the world to see if Prince Harry gets seated behind a pillar.
