Finding pressed coins at Disney World is a simple quest. Reportedly, there are an estimated 120 squished penny machines scattered around their Florida property.
Disney World Pressed Coins Map
It’s going to take someone far more tech savvy than us to import the real map into this blog. To use the official one on the Walt Disney site, click on any of the three map images on this page.
According to Disney, pressed coins have been available in their parks for more than a century.
In addition to the machines located in all four of the Disney World themes parks – Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom – you can find coin presses in Disney hotels, restaurants and resorts.
We’re going to the Magic Kingdom next week, so let’s zoom in on the entrance and Main Street to see what we’ll find.
Zoomed in all the way on a Disney World Pressed Coin location
One piece of advice, collected ages ago from a Disney expert, was don’t be like everyone else and stop immediately in Magic Kingdom’s Main Street.
Although it’s super tempting, gawk from further inside the park. Your time is better spent separating yourself from the crowd and visiting shops (and all) on Main Street later in the day.
Just beyond Main Street, on your way to rest of the kingdom, you’ll find Cinderella’s iconic Castle.
According to this fabulous interactive map (again, it’s not interactive on this blog, you’ll need to click on the image and go to the Walt Disney World page) Sir Mickey has a pressed coin machine inside!
That, friend, is gonna be our first Magic Kingdom stop. Watch for a Facebook reel on @TexansTouring. We’ll post live on Monday.
Typical pressed coin machines squish pennies in the US. And to flatten one coin costs two quarters and one penny, so 51¢.
Which makes it, quite possibly, the most inexpensive souvenir to be found at Walt Disney World.
However, in watching a vlog, we saw Disney has replaced at least one of its presser with a machine that takes debit and credit cards. More convenient, sure. The cost per pressed coin, however, is now US$1.00. We came across this same, new fangled thing at the Fort Worth Zoo a few months ago and can say in all honestly, not a big fan.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a fun and cheap memento. Suppose we just prefer the novelty of searching for change, pushing in the slide thingie and cranking the wheel until our elongated penny drops.
So, gonna dig for some quarters and pennies. And make some wishes that, magically, not all the machines have been switched out and we can crank a few of our own.
Bibbidi Bobbidi, y’all!
Oh! When we get home, we’ll post an update here. Cheers!
